Getting started

What is an entry?

An entry is a dated snapshot of the balance of every asset and debt. Most people add one a month. Your net worth, trends and forecast are worked out from your entries. Tap + on Home to add one; your last values are pre-filled, so you only change what moved.

How do debts work?

Each category is either an asset or a debt. Enter a debt such as a mortgage or credit card as the amount you owe (a positive number) and NetWorth subtracts it from your total.

Can I get a reminder each month?

Yes. Turn on the monthly reminder in Settings and pick the day and time. It stays quiet in months you've already added an entry. If it doesn't arrive, check that notifications are allowed for NetWorth in your phone's settings.

Can I bring in my history from a spreadsheet?

Yes. Save it as a CSV file and use Import CSV in Settings. It reads either a column per asset or a row per value, lets you match each column to an asset, and shows a preview before anything is imported.

Which languages does NetWorth support?

English and German. NetWorth follows your phone's language, or you can choose one in Settings. Number and date formats follow your format settings.

Your data

Where is my data stored?

Only on your phone, in an encrypted database. There's no NetWorth account or server, so I can't see your data and can't recover it for you. Turn on backup to keep a copy. See the privacy policy for details.

How do I back up my data?

Turn on backup in Settings. NetWorth saves an encrypted copy once a week to your own iCloud Drive (iPhone) or Google Drive (Android). On iPhone you need to be signed in to iCloud with iCloud Drive on; on Android you sign in with Google when you turn it on.

How do I move to a new phone?

Same platform: make sure backup is on, then install NetWorth on the new phone, signed in to the same Apple ID or Google account, and choose Restore from backup on the welcome screen. If it says the key hasn't arrived yet, check that iCloud Keychain (iPhone) or Google backup (Android) is on and try again a little later.

iPhone to Android or back: export your data in Settings, send the file to your new phone, and import it there. Importing replaces everything already in the app.

I deleted something by mistake

Deleted entries, assets and categories go to Recently deleted in Settings, where you can restore them. Restoring an asset brings back its values in every entry.

How do I hide my balances or lock the app?

Tap the eye next to your total on Home to hide the amounts. To require Face ID, fingerprint or your passcode when opening NetWorth, turn on the app lock in Settings.

How do I stop sharing usage statistics?

Turn it off in Settings → Security & privacy. Usage statistics never include amounts, asset names or notes.

NetWorth Pro

What does Pro include?

Assets in more than one currency (converted to your main currency with daily exchange rates), Insights, and new Pro features as they ship. It also supports NetWorth's development.

How do I restore my purchase on a new phone?

Open Pro in Settings and tap Restore purchases. Use the same Apple ID or Google Play account you bought it with. The old one-time Pro purchase is honoured forever.

How do I cancel my subscription or get a refund?

Subscriptions are handled by Apple or Google. Cancel at least 24 hours before it renews:

Why are exchange rates unavailable?

Rates are downloaded for each entry date, so NetWorth needs an internet connection the first time. Values without a rate for that date are left out of the totals until it can fetch one. If it keeps happening, email me.
